Finding the right fit for all
At nbn, our meaningful work sees us provide products and services so people right across Australia can participate in a digital future.
With this in mind, we’ve designed our recruitment process to help both candidates and nbn find the right person for the right role.

Our inclusive recruitment process
We aim to provide a positive recruitment process for all.
Our recruitment process usually consists of the following seven steps (but may vary based on the role). We’ll let you know as soon as possible if you’re unsuccessful at any stage.
Submit your current resume online and any requested supporting documents.
If you progress to the next round, an initial chat takes place over the phone with one of our recruitment business partners.
We’ll ask questions about your suitability for the role, and you can find out more about the company, role and our hiring process.
A successful phone screening leads to an interview with the hiring manager and key stakeholders relevant to the position.
We assess your skills and experience against the job's required competencies, and ask behavioural, technical and job-specific questions.
If you’re applying for a position to manage a team, you’ll need to complete our online psychometric assessments.
This tells us more about your preferred working style, how you solve problems, plan and draw logical conclusions. Results will be discussed if you progress to a final interview.
If you have any support or access needs, please contact the Talent Acquisition Team.
At the final interview, you may meet with the role’s ‘one-up’ manager and members of the wider team. They can answer any further questions you have, while helping our recruitment business partners confirm if you’re the right fit for the role.
Next, we undertake pre-employment background and (when required) medical checks. This may include:
- a 100-point identification check
- eligibility to work confirmation
- employment verification check
- national criminal record check
- reference checks
- drug and alcohol testing
- qualifications check
- licence check
The final stage of our recruitment process is offering a role at nbn.
If you receive and accept an offer of employment, we’ll send you our Employee Orientation Welcome Booklet. Filled with helpful information and tips, it tells you everything you need to know before your first day at nbn.
