Integrating nbn connectivity into your development is a smart investment, helping facilitate technology advances, now and into the future. Find out how you can partner with nbn to suit your property development needs.

How can we help with your nbn connectivity needs?

Make sure your property is ready to connect to services over the nbn network via a provider. Find out which process will best suit your needs.

If you are building a new residential or commercial development, you can apply for access to the nbn network for your premises through the nbn New Developments process.

Example of new development types include:

  • Building a new home on a newly titled premises
  • Sub-dividing a lot into multiple residential units
  • Developing multi-dwelling units
  • Developing commercial premises

If you are planning to move existing nbn infrastructure, you may need to complete a Relocation Works application. This is to ensure the infrastructure is placed in the most appropriate place within your boundary, and that you’re ready to be reconnected once your development is complete.

Examples of when you may need to complete a Relocation Works application include:

  • Prior to any demolition or renovation requiring the removal or relocation of nbn supplied equipment
  • Relocation of aerial network or lead-ins underground
  • Relocation of nbn pits or street infrastructure (including underground cabling)

If you are building a secondary dwelling on a sub-divided block with a new address and land title, this is considered to be a new development. If you are connecting a secondary dwelling that shares the same address and land title as the primary residence, your service provider may be able to assist you with an additional service.

Example of secondary dwellings include:

  • Granny flats
  • Studios

The process of extending the nbn network to eligible non-premises locations can differ based on whether you wish to connect a new or existing location.

Example of non-premises locations include:

  • Traffic lights
  • Electronic signage
  • Public Wi-Fi
