Narrator: For Australian lifestyle communities, living well is about more than great amenities. It's about enjoying spaces and services that make life easy, helping residents relax, thrive, and stay connected. Welcome to Ingenia Lifestyle, where over 55's living meets smart future ready technology.

David Burk: To push the boundaries of innovation and differentiate ourselves, we wanted to create communities that offer the latest in smart security, energy management, and digital services. At the heart of this vision is our strategic partnership with nbn, supported by specialist technology providers such as Urban Pulse.

Andrew Walsh: Our nbn Smart Solutions Program was created to help developers navigate the complexity of integrating technology into land lease communities. By focusing on the needs of over 55s and the long-term objectives of developers, we design customized digital solutions that enhance safety, connectivity, and overall resident experience, while also improving operational efficiency.

As Australia's population continues to age, we're committed to supporting inclusive, well-connected communities where people are empowered to live independently for longer.

David Burk: Through the Smart Solutions program, nbn gives us access to vetted technology partners, enabling amenities such as easy yet secure entry into residences, comprehensive CCTV coverage, resident energy monitoring, and introducing the role that resident apps can play in keeping residents informed and connected.

Before our partnership with nbn, our technology environment wasn't designed for long-term evolution. Upgrades were difficult, costly, and limited by lack of choice. Working with nbn has completely changed that trajectory.

Their open access model gives us genuine choice and control, enabling us to select the right technologies at the right time and evolve our communities as expectations grow. Today, that partnership shapes how we design and manage all of our Ingenia lifestyle communities, evolving from basic connectivity to what is now a fully integrated smart living experience.

Collaborating with nbn and accessing the Smart Solutions Program has allowed us to design technologies that meet the needs of today's residents, while anticipating the needs of generations who will call our communities home for decades to come.

David McCrae: Our partnership with Ingenia Lifestyle is about more than providing reliable connectivity. It's about creating a shared vision for communities where technology enhances lifestyle and even supports sustainability.

By designing efficient grid protection and energy management solutions, we help Ingenia capture and share solar energy with community facilities while also giving residents the ability to monitor and reduce their energy use within their homes.

Andrew Walsh: Together, we've built a foundation for innovative living backed by the nbn full fibre network that's designed for today and the future.

How to plan early with nbn

Get your development ready for nbn connectivity with these four steps.

Learn about the end-to-end process, and what's required from both you and nbn. You can also browse our FAQs for more information.

Given there are a number of different development types, we recommend you start planning early to help ensure the nbn network can be connected in time. nbn will endeavour to achieve these timeframes, but cannot guarantee them.

  • Small developments, such as sub-dividing a lot into two residential units - you should engage nbn a minimum of three months before the premises will be occupied, and while the building is being constructed.
  • All other developments, such as multi-dwelling units, commercial or new non-premises locations - you should engage nbn a minimum of six months before service connections are required.

To help with a timely connection, and to ensure the nbn infrastructure within your property boundary is built to meet our design guidelines, we recommend working with an nbn trained designer or installer.

An end customer’s experience, including the speeds actually achieved over the nbn broadband access network, depends on the nbn access network technology and configuration over which services are delivered to their premises, whether they are using the internet during the busy period, and some factors outside of nbn’s control (like their equipment quality, software, chosen broadband plan, signal reception, or how their provider designs its network).
