The important things you need to know when migrating business services to the nbn® network.

Introducing Traffic Class 4 (TC4) – Designed for business internet and standard data services

We offer three wholesale traffic classes to service providers (TC1, TC2 and TC4), which they use to create products to sell directly to you.# Each traffic class has a different primary purpose;

TC4 is designed primarily for general internet and standard data services and has the following features:

  • Available across all access technologies.
  • Asymmetrical wholesale download and upload speeds*
  • A ‘best effort’ service suitable for non-critical business data applications

Traffic Class 1 (TC1) is designed for voice (specifically for Voice over Internet Protocol [VoIP] services), and Traffic Class 2 (TC2) is designed to accommodate many business-critical data services such as video conferencing.*

TC4 data traffic is available over Fibre to the Premises (FTTP), Fibre to the Basement (FTTB), Fibre to the Node (FTTN), Fibre to the Curb (FTTC), Hybrid Fibre Coaxial (HFC), Fixed Wireless (FW) and Sky Muster™ satellite options.
For most standard internet use and low priority applications, the wholesale TC4 product is designed to reflect a typical user experience for your staff and customers.*

The wholesale download and upload speeds offered to your service provider represent a Peak Information Rate (PIR) – the maximum speed attainable at the wholesale level on an uncongested network. Your actual speed will be affected by a variety of factors, including your access technology and how your provider designs its network.* You should talk to your service provider about the typical speeds you can expect to experience when you switch to an nbn™ powered plan – particularly during peak times like the evening.
