Key steps for relocating your business
Relocating a business can be a big job, but your internet setup doesn’t have to be. Starting your relocation plans 2-3 months in advance can help prevent downtime and keep your business running smoothly.
Talk to your preferred service provider early to keep your team connected from day one.
Moving out? LEave the nbn equipment where it is
For all types of nbn technology, the nbn equipment installed at your old premises is linked to that specific address and should stay behind when you relocate your business. That includes:
- The nbn connection box
- The nbn-provided power adaptor
- Any accompanying cables
Look for the nbn logo to identify what you need to leave behind.
Accidentally took the nbn equipment with you? You can return it free of charge via Australia Post
Moving your nbn Enterprise Ethernet connection
If you're in a fixed term for your Enterprise Ethernet service, you may be able to keep your existing contract with your current service provider when moving to a new location. In most cases, we will be able to install an Enterprise Ethernet service to your new address.
Important note: Build costs may apply depending on the location, just like when your original Enterprise Ethernet service was first installed. The great news is that 90% of nbn’s fixed line areas qualify for $0 build costs*.
Speak with your service provider to find out what's available at your new premises.
^Your experience, including the speeds actually achieved over the nbn network, depends on the nbn access network technology and configuration over which services are delivered to your premises, whether you are using the internet during the busy period, and some factors outside nbn’s control (like your equipment quality, software, broadband plan, signal reception and how your service provider designs its network). Regardless of the bandwidth profile for the service you acquire from your service provider, it will operate at less than 10Gbps, if that bandwidth profile is acquired) because of normal equipment and network limitations. If your provider has not selected Class of Service – High, the speeds you experience may be affected by contention on the nbn network, particularly in busy periods.
+nbn Enterprise Ethernet is only available in the nbn Fixed Line network footprint and at limited premises served by the nbn Fixed Wireless and Satellite networks. Eligibility is based on an nbn desktop analysis of available data. There may be a small number of premises where eligibility results will differ from those provided on the nbn website. Costs may apply; contact your preferred service provider to ask about availability, eligibility and any fees and charges that may apply.
*nbn is a wholesaler and does not control costs charged by service providers. Customers should contact their preferred provider to ask about availability and any fees and charges from their provider that may be applicable. These pricing offers, in particular no up-front build costs, are not available for most premises in the nbn Fixed Wireless or Satellite footprints or for most premises which have complex connections – further costs are likely to apply to these premises.
