Do great things with the new Fibre to the Premises (FTTP) four port connection box, available this September. Equipped with four Ethernet ports, this connection box gives you the option to order multiple services.

Introducing the new four port FTTP connection box
The new four port FTTP connection box allows you to order up to four separate services from the same or different service providers through one connection box, and connect up to four routers.
Our guide explains how to set up your four-port connection box internet connection, highlights its features, and helps you troubleshoot using the light indicators.
How do I connect to the internet?
- Sign up to an nbn powered plan
To connect your nbn internet service, sign up to a nbn powered plan with your preferred phone and internet provider. Once your order is confirmed and installation is scheduled, your new connection box will be installed by a technician. You can then begin the connection process immediately if you’re supplying your own Wi-Fi router or once you receive a router from your internet provider. - Remove the wall mount cover to access the ports on the nbn connection box
To remove the wall mount cover, press the indents on the side of the cover and slide it downwards. For more information, check out our tips on removing your wall mount cover.
- Confirm the port your internet service has been assigned to
Your nbn connection box has four ports, so it’s important to understand if your service has been assigned to port 1, 2, 3 or 4.
Troubleshooting tip: If the assigned port is already being used or if all four of the ports are already in use, please contact your provider for assistance. - Connect your Wi-Fi router to the nbn connection box
Plug the Ethernet cable from your Wi-Fi router into the assigned port - Port 1, 2, 3 or 4.
Businesses can have slightly more complex set-ups and cabling requirements. If this sounds like you, please contact your provider for assistance. - The nbn connection box will connect to the nbn network
The green light labelled ‘Optical’ will flash slowly, indicating that there is activity on the nbn network and data is being transmitted.
When the green ‘Optical’ light stops flashing and stays on, this means your nbn connection box is connected to the nbn network.
The green light labelled ‘Port’ will flash, indicating that there is activity on the port connected to your Wi-Fi router. - Reattach the wall mount cover to protect the cables
Once connected, reattach the wall mount by sliding it upwards into place.

Lights on/off
Pressing the ‘LIGHTS ON/OFF’ button turns the lights on your connection box on or off, giving you a practical way to minimise disruption from the flashing lights depending on where your nbn connection box is located within your home or business.
Turning the lights off doesn’t turn the connection box off or impact how it works. Just remember to turn them back on if you’re doing some troubleshooting, as they won’t automatically turn back on if there’s an issue with your connection box.
What are the ports on the connection box?
Note: the arrangement or order of the ports may vary slightly, based on the manufacturer, but will appear from left as either:
Power > Reset > Port1 > Port 2 > Port 3 > Port 4 > Optical or Reset > Port1 > Port 2 > Port 3 > Port 4 > Power > Optical.
Reset | A ‘paperclip activated’ button to force a reset of the nbn connection box. How do I restart/reset the nbn connection box? You should only use the 'paperclip activated' Reset button to restart your nbn connection box when your provider asks you to. There are two modes to this button:
|
Port (1-4) | The assigned Ethernet port used to connect the nbn connection box to your Wi-Fi router. Each port is reserved for a separate internet service. Port 1 is grey, and Ports 2-4 are orange. |
Power | The port for connecting the power supply unit to the connection box. |
Optical | The port used to connect the fibre optic cable that brings the internet service into the nbn connection box. |
