nbn wholesale price changes from 1 July
From 1 July 2025, there will be changes to the wholesale prices that nbn charges phone and internet providers. This is a part of nbn’s annual pricing review.
The changes we’re making are in line with the regulatory framework in nbn’s Special Access Undertaking, which was accepted by the ACCC in October 2023 following two years of consultation, ensuring that our pricing remains fair and transparent.
Broadly, nbn’s wholesale prices will be adjusted, on average, by just under the annual percentage change in the Consumer Price Index (CPI), measured over the 12 months to 31 December 2024. On our most popular residential speed tiers across the fixed line network, average wholesale prices are forecast to increase by between $0 and $1.71 per month.
The retail price customers pay for their nbn broadband service is set by their internet retailer.
For services targeted at business customers, nbn will introduce discounts on selected plans to encourage small and medium businesses to adopt plans that may better suit their needs compared to a standard residential service. With these discounts, effective prices will remain stable from 1 July 2025 and come down from 1 September 2025.
Anna Perrin, Chief Customer Officer at NBN Co, said:
“We recognise that customers expect value, choice, and transparency.
“Changes to our wholesale prices are always carefully considered to ensure we continue delivering value to homes and businesses across Australia, while investing in a network that will help meet Australia’s growing digital demands.
“We have seen average household data use increase tenfold over the past decade and it's projected to double again by 2029.
“There are over 150 phone and internet providers Australia-wide that offer a variety of nbn plans with different inclusions and prices.
“We encourage people to regularly check with their nbn provider for specific details about any changes to their bill and ensure they are on the right plan for their needs and budget.”
The table below outlines the monthly price changes across our most popular residential fixed line wholesale speed tiers. For the full list please see nbn’s FY26 Tariff List.

Disclaimers
* Until FY27, the 12/1, 25/5, 25/10 and 50/20 Mbps speed tiers have a fixed bundle price, with overage charged on a per-service basis for CVC TC-4 capacity utilised above the CVC included in the bundle. For those speed tiers, the table sets out the forecast average wholesale cost in FY25 and FY26, comprised of the fixed bundle price and the forecast CVC overage charge per service. In contrast, the speed tiers of 100/20 Mbps and above are charged on a ‘flat-rate’ basis (without CVC TC-4 overage charges) – and those flat-rate prices are shown in the table.
