Daniel Willis

Daniel Willis is General Manager, FTTx Technologies at NBN Co.

In his current role as General Manager for FTTx Technologies in NBN Co’s Technology Office, Daniel leads a team of industry experts responsible for setting the evolution for all of NBN Co’s fibre and copper network based access technologies.

Daniel joined the then newly-created 'NBN Co' in 2010, before any build had commenced. Daniel contributed to equipment selection, developing the original architecture of NBN Co's GPON fibre access solution and leading the Engineering team responsible for delivering first capability onto NBN Co’s FTTP network platform. Prior to starting his current role, Daniel also spent time leading the Engineering team responsible for the NBN Co core aggregation and switching platforms.

Before starting at NBN Co, Daniel worked at Telstra, gaining experience in many areas of Telstra’s business including access networks.

Between 2003 and 2010 Daniel helped found the Telstra Engineering group specifically formed to lead the selection, development, integration testing and lifecycle of Telstra's first commercially deployed residential Fibre-To-The-Premises BPON based access network technology. This role developed into managing Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTx) access technology team in Telstra’s Network Engineering department, responsible for the upgrade, design, development, and lifecycle management of Telstra's now GPON based 'Velocity' Fibre-to-the-Premises network infrastructure.
